The first work of Salvatore Vitale (1575-1647) on La Verna, or Monte Penna, in Tuscany, where he lived from 1624-1629. This work compares the geography of La Verna to that of Jerusalem, and the life of St. Francis with Christ, using the Apocalyptic prophesy of St John in the Book of Revelation. Book is bound in alumn tawed pig skin, with title written along spine. 11cm x 14.5 cm. Inside is very clean, with minor foxing. Some interesting bleed-through/offset of the typeset throughout. Adorned with woodblock illustrations throughout and floriated initials. City-scape illustration.
