The Vicounty of Barrington, of Ardglass in the County of Down a title in the peerage of Ireland, was created in 1720, and declared extinct in 1990. This set of volumes was likely owned by the second Viscount of Barrington, William Wildman Shute Barrington (1717-1793). He was best known for his two periods as Secretary at War during Britain's involvement in the Seven Years War and American War of Independence.
