The Poetical Works of Mrs. F. Hemans. With Memoir. Edinburgh & London: Gall & Inglis. [ca. 1886].

From the Landscape Series of Poets.

(200 x 140 mm) pp. xxiv, 584. Each page framed by landscape scenes in green and brown, with full page steel engravings throughout. Flower petals (likely 19th century) occasionally through pages. Previous owner has written name and date on the back of the frontispiece (Lucinda E. Sissons, Oct. 20th, 1886). Bound in green cloth with roundels of Shakespeare, Burns, and two landscape scenes on each corner. Central image is lacquered flower painting, depressed in the binding providing a relief contrast. A bit scuffed. Endbands bumped as well. Full gold fore-edge, though faded. One page (434) has suffered from flower pressing which has left significant staining and a small hole in the gutter margin.  Binding in GOOD condition. Internally GOOD to VERY GOOD condition.
