Les Contes du Vieux Japon : Le moineau qui a la langue coupée. Tokyo: T. Hasegawa, ca. 1900.
(15.5 x 10.5 cm ) Unpaginated, 22 pages including covers, rear cover blank. Printed in color on crepe paper (chirimen-gami) to imitate silk. Bound with silk thread stitching. Most pages fully illustrated in ukiyo-e style art with text in French. Publisher on verso of cover. No date, but likely ca. 1900 or slightly earlier. No. 2 in the series of twenty from Les Contes du Vieux Japon (1885-1913). Front and rear external covers are faded with some staining and loss to vibrancy of pigment on front cover. Internally, crisp with some spotting throughout. Overall VERY GOOD condition.
