This is a wild wild artifact of the 1960s that brings together a NASA-funded experiment to study dolphin-human communication that lead to an overly close relationship between naturalist, Margaret Howe Lovatt, and a subject dolphin, Peter. No, you can't make this up, and yes, it is worth doing a quick Google.
